Our 10th Anniversary

The band held a 10th Anniversary Concert on 22nd September 2017 in Darwen Library Theatre. The occasion included players past and present, their families and friends and everybody who had supported the band over the past 10 years together with a local audience who enjoy brass band music.

The event was attended by Darwen mayor 'Mr Roy Davies' and the Deputy leader of Darwen Town council 'Mr Kevin Conner'.

Raffle prizes were donated by local Darwen businesses and by the players, including a 'Hitachi TV' donated by 'Shell Seddon'.

The programme included music played by the band over the past ten years and included:

A cornet solo by 'Laura Kendall'

A baritone solo by 'John Perett'

A euphonium solo by 'Dave Thomas'

As a finale to a wonderful evening, the players presented Musical Director 'Steve Hartley' with an

engraved decanter to mark 10 years of conducting the band and to show their appreciation of his expertise and commitment which has enabled the band to progress from the 4th Section to the 2nd Section and to represent the North West area on two occasions at the National Finals in Cheltenham.
